On Dec. 06, 2011, I came up with this idea to build a platform so that the Alumni could help current students and pass-outs get opportunities both in science and industry using their experience, expertise, and network. I was prompted by the fact that three other of my batch mates were also overseas for higher education in Physics with two more to join soon. That would make up one-third of the M.Sc. Physics class of 2010. I felt it would be a first in India for any physics institution producing M.Sc. students. I feel we should infect others with this excitement and change the way people think about Physics as a career option in India. Most often it is used as a back-up option for aspiring engineering students. And, I want to change this.
I decided to team up with my classmates Renuka Tayade and Pinaki Das Gupta (also my roommate in JNBH Room # 23) to kickstart this initiative! I asked them if they were interested and "yes" was what I heard back. The idea was to help us network easily as we move around the planet.
Finally, a website was kick-started on Dec. 10, 2011. Visit the SOP DAVV Alumni website at https://sites.google.com/site/sopdavvalumni/.
