9.0 Earthquake in Japan w/ Tsunami

Very sad to hear about the 9.0 earthquake unleashing tsunamis 10m high in Japan w/ possibilities of radiation leak since the cooling to one of the nuclear power station is non-functional due to emergency power backup failures. This is not giving me a good feeling. Just yesterday, we were talking about how the world is coming to an end in May 2011 while driving down to Indian Palace. 9.0 ... :(

If you have family members or friends in Japan, can you please urgently check if everyone if okay? Also, if possible, can they move far away from nuclear power generation plants and coastal areas to avoid any effects from radiation leaks or tsunami?

It is quite a deja vu. I never believe in things like predictions and stuff but then these occurrences are enough to make me investigate what is going on and if it needs attention. Thank you.

Advisory Notes:
  • Thyroid is most easily affected by radiation so keep your necks covered when outdoors. Potassium iodide (KI) is recommended by health officials worldwide to prevent thyroid cancer of those exposed to radioactive iodine in the event of a nuclear reactor accident or detonation of a nuclear bomb. It may be distributed by your local authorities if there is a radiation risk in your area or in centralized evacuation centres.
